METHODOLOGY

Methodology and sources

Every figure on this site that comes from outside trainsyou is listed here with its source, the date we retrieved it and how we use it. The calculator assumptions below are the values the calculators use right now.

How we use figures

  • Price guides are published price guides, not official statistics.
  • Benchmarks are averages across many accounts and industries; yours will differ.
  • Estimates are shown as ranges, with their assumptions, and are never promises.
  • We publish no customer counts, ratings or testimonials that we cannot show.

How the follower estimate is calculated

Low and high ends use the low and high assumptions throughout. Only Stories are modelled, not a bio link, posts or other channels. Purchase conversion uses retail e-commerce purchase rates, because no published benchmark exists for coaching subscriptions.

  1. People who see your Stories

V = followers × Story reach for your tier, scaled by your engagement when known. Reach is the share of followers who view at least one frame of a Story, and the same people tend to watch each one, so more Stories do not add viewers.

  2. Chance of a visit

With k link Stories a month, each viewer visits at least once with probability 1 − (1 − click-through)^k. It rises with k and levels off; it never exceeds 100%.

  3. New subscribers in the first month

V × chance of a visit × purchase conversion. Conversion is a share of people, so repeat visits by the same person never add subscribers, and the result never exceeds V × conversion.

  4. After twelve months

The same formula with 12 × k Stories and the same Story audience. New followers and audience turnover are not modelled, so it is a cautious figure that never exceeds V × conversion. Cancellations are not modelled.

How the earnings estimate is calculated

  • Commission follows the standard marginal bands: 25% (1-100), 20% (101-300), 15% (301-1,000), 10% (above 1,000).
  • Upfront programmes are converted to a monthly equivalent: price divided by months.
  • The tier mix and add-ons are assumed to be the same in every band.
  • Excluded: payment processing, AI usage at cost, voice usage, domain, refunds, disputes, booking fees and tax.

Change log

  • 28 September 2026: first publication of sources and calculator assumptions (version 2026-09-28).
  • 28 September 2026 (version 2026-09-28.2): repeat link Stories now reach the same viewers, so the chance of a visit levels off instead of adding up; the twelve-month figure comes from the same Story audience and never exceeds viewers × conversion; visit to paid subscriber changed from 1.51-5.39% to 0.72% (Dynamic Yield luxury and jewellery, high-consideration retail) to 2.89% (EMEA average), because a monthly coaching subscription is a considered purchase and the UAE is in EMEA.
